Verb + preposition + -ing
(a) Многие глаголы входят в конструкцию
глагол (V) + предлог (P) + дополнение.
Например, talk about:
- We talked about the problem. (about – это предлог)
Если дополнение является глаголом, то он
заканчивается на -ing:
- We talked about going to America. (V + P + -ing)
Вот несколько глаголов, которые входят в
конструкцию V + P + -ing:

(*) I feel like doing = Мне хотелось бы сделать, я склонен
сделать.
Говорят `apologise to someone for something':
- He apologised to me for keeping me waiting. (а не `he apologised me')
Некоторые глаголы входят в конструкцию
глагол + предлог + кто-либо + -ing.
Например:
- We are all looking forward to Peter coming home.
- She doesn't approve of her son staying out late at night.
- They insisted on me (или my) staying with them. (Смотри Unit 35c.)

(*) После stop можно опускать from. Таким образом, Вы можете
сказать:
- We stopped everyone leaving (или from leaving) the building.
Некоторые из этих глаголов часто используются в
страдательном залоге:
- I was accused of telling lies.
- Was the man suspected of being a spy?
- We were warned against buying it.
